Society6: design and shop

Wouldn't it be nice to have your very own product range as a designer? Pillows, stationary, iPhone cases, tote bags and other cool products? All with your design? Sounds like a dream? Well with Society6 it isn't! You post your artwork and they create and ship the products. That is basically it. Read more about it here. And for those who aren't that creative to produce their own designs but have a fine nose for great art work: you can choose designs from hundreds of thousands of artists from around the world. All of the products are produced when you order them, on-demand, to avoid waste and keep their business sustainable. I recently bought this iPhone case with the butterfly design from Dutch artist SjoeSjoe. Shipment (to the Netherlands) takes a few weeks but quality, service and my new iPhone case are great.

Home is where mom is

Last year, a few days before Mother's day, a dear friend surprised me with a beautiful bouquet. She said that I should celebrate Almost-Mother's day as a mother-to-be. I thought that was such a sweet idea. I remember the great feeling of a baby in my belly and the thought that in the near future we would become a little family and celebrate Mother's day for real. Now Mother's day is almost near again (in the Netherlands) and it sounds silly but I'm really curious what it will be like now that I'm a mother! Will I receive this great piece of baby art? A bunch of flowers? I'll just have to wait and see. Via Moodkids I've received a nice gift already. They've made some great downloads of really nice Mom posters. I love freebies and especially these cute ones! So, thank you Eefje and Maike. And for all you mummies and mums-to-be out there: have a great (Almost-) Mother's day

Hand made

Last Sunday I visited the exhibition Hand Made in Museum Boijmans van Beuningen in Rotterdam with my friend Meike (Dutch readers: check out her blog for some entertaining stories!). At the museum we've enjoyed the most exceptional objects made by human hands. Some ugly (admired none the less) and some extremely beautiful. It is really amazing what can be done by human hands. The exhibition shows objects from the past to the present day. It is very inspiring and we wanted to be productively busy with our hands right away. Only have to find some time ... and creative hands. You can visit the exhibition until May 20 2013. Read more about it here.

Flower fun

Almost every weekend I buy fresh flowers. Flowers really brighten your place, don't you think? I often buy seasonal flowers, which are particularly special at that time. Mostly single flowers. Looking forward to coming month when Peonies will be available again. Need some flower inspiration? Have a look at my Pinterest bord.

Love my POM shawl

My favourite accessory is definitely a shawl. My fashion style is pretty basic, but with a shawl I give my outfit a little twist. I have dozens. My latest buy is this POM and I really love it. It is 100% silk and it has a great pattern with many flowers and tiny details of the city of Amsterdam. There are endless ways to wear it. You should really have a look in their webshop. It's great! Their motto 'Make every day a happy day' fits perfect. Wearing a POM makes you really feel good. Now, go on, what are you waiting for

Photo exhibition about Beatrix

It's been a while... I've been extremely busy at work these days. And to be honest I still find it hard to manage time between work, my little boy, husband, household, family and friends. Especially when things at work are crazy! Anyway, I'm here and I want to tip you this lovely exhibition about our queen in the Beurs of Berlage in Amsterdam. Just a week away from Queensday, when our queen signs of, you should really visit this photo exhibition. It shows her most memorable moments of her being a queen in the past 33 years. The photo I loved most is the one above of her and her husband. They look like a couple in Mad Men, don't you think? Read more about the exhibition here.
